Great English Pub Grub and even had 4 icy cold beers on tap in the middle of winter for us Australians.
This is a good local pub. It has a really cool quirky decor, and has loads of events like Morris dancing, theatre, bring-your-own-cheese evenings and folk music, and the location alongside the canal is gorgeous, with both indoor and indoor seating and tables. They always have a good selection of local and international craft beers in cans and bottles, as well as on tap. They have a small menu of traditional and Mexican fare, and on Friday evenings theres a lot of free food doing the rounds. Its basic food but okay for the price. Music tends to be classic rock and soul, and is at a low enough volume that you dont need to shout your conversation. We always pop in when were visiting Berkhamsted or walking along the canal.
Best beer selection in the area. Relaxed atmosphere and dog friendly. No surprise it's a regular pub of the year nominee.
